(From Our Own Correspondent.) The Ladies’ Guild, at their last fortnightly meeting, packed parcels for the local boys serving with the forces. On this occasion tho cakes included in the parcels were baked by individual members. Formerly the cakes had to be purchased ready lor sending but members thought it would be more satisfactory to make them. Hewing for the Lady Galway Guild, knitting for minesweepers and work for the Red Cross Hociety is still progressing.

The local branen of tho Labour Party held its annual meeting recently. Mr. A. H. Carkeek presiding. The annual report stated that the year had been a quiet one, members realizing that patriotic work for the time being was to have precedence. Messrs. D. Hanson, W. A. Hurst and A. W. Churchill, members of the Manawatu Labour Representative Council, who attended the meeting, complimented the branch on its year’s work, upon maintaining its membership and upon its strong financial standing. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr. A. Carkeek; vice-president, Mr. T. H. .Tones; secretary, D. Carkeek; auditor. Mr. W. A. Hurst; executive, Mr. and Mrs. Webby, Mr. W. Francis, Messrs. A. Carkeek and T. H. Jones. Church and Sunday School On Sunday last Rev. N. H. Barnett, Anglican Minister, of Bulls, conducted Holy Communion for the lac'll parishioners. On Sunday afternoon Mr. A. Lind and Miss Pedley of Rongotea, and Miss J. Penney, took tho Honda}' school in the absence of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Rowe. Mrs. Rowe is suffering a slight indisposition and will wish her a speedy return to better health. Personal Mrs. S. Davison, of Wellington, and her two daughters Glenda and Valerie, have been spending a few weeks with Mrs. Davison’s mother, Mrs. H. Lyon, at her beach cottage. Mrs. Russell Penney, of Bulls, lias returned to her home after spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs. .T. Penney. Mr. H. R. Davison who has been homo in Kairanga for the last two months, has now returned to his beach eottago where he is busy preparing for the shooting season. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Castleton and Mr. Jack Needham have returned to Waiouru after spendink Easter at Tangimoana. Mr. Joseph Watt lias returned to Palmerston North after spending a fortnight at Tangimoana as the guest of Mr. J. Bull. Miss Colleen Doherty, of Palmerston North, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. W.'L. Nunt, at their beach cottage.
