Untold Millions Lost In Forest Fires
FALSE ECONOMY RESULTS IN HUGE DAMAGE Received Wednesday, 7.30 p.m. NEW YORK, April 22. The fires which have been raging for three days through the forests in many Eastern States were checked to-day after having charred more than 150,000 wooded acres with the loss of untold millions of dollars. The destruction of 500 buildings at Marshfield '(Massachusetts) causing the loss of 1,500,000 dollars was due to the saving of 300 dollars which was previously paid annually to burn marsh grass.
