SiX Donald Johnston McGavin has been appointed a member of the Board of Health. Mr. J. E. Thomas has been appointed Food Controller in.place of Mr. F. R. Picot during the latter’s absence from the Dominion. Messrs M. H. Oram, W. H. Brown and W. G. Black have been re-appointed as the representatives of the Wanganui Education Board on tne Palmerston North High .Schools’ Board, of Governors. Mr. F. A. Bates, M.A., of Christchurch, has oeen appointed an inspector of schools in the Wanganui Education Board ’a district, filling the vacancy caused by the transfer of Mr. A. R. Merrington to Auckland. The death has occurred in Adelaide of Mr. John L. Price, Federal member tor Boothby, Boutk ..-Australia and also Government whip in the House of Representatives. His death places the Menzics Government in a minority. Mr. M. H. Oram, of Palmerston North, whose term of ofiice on the Victoria College Council as the representa tive of four education boards will expire in June, is to be re-nominated by the Wanganui Education Board. The death occurred suddenly at Seddonvillo yesterday of Mr. Thomas Low Bennett, a retired miner, aged 74 years. He was the parent of Dave and Tom Befiuett, weil-nnown in light harness circles as trainer and drive*. Teaching appointments made in the Wanganui Education Board’s district include the following: Miss M. Tomlinson, assistant mistress, Bunny thorpe; Miss L. K. Dunlop, assistant mistress, Halcombo; Miss L. X. Pattison, assistant mistress, Kopane; Mrs. F. G. Macken, assistant mistress, Terrace End; Miss E. A. Bell, infant mistress, Bulls.
