Plunket Society Considers Month’s Work

Mrs. G. C. Petersen presided over the April meeting of the Palmerston North branch of the Plunket Society postponed from Friday until yesterday also present being Alesdames A. E. Mansford, A. I. McGregor, K. Kirk, K. Garner, H. M. Scott, F. M. Garner, M. Aitchison (lion, sec.), and Miss L. M. Banks. I There were apologies from Mesdamcs S. Thomson, T. J. Rodgers and R. Edwards. A circular letter from the Dominion Secretary intimating that approval had been obtained from the Department of Health for additional payments to the society for 5 per cent, increase in the annual subsidy for each Plunket nurse; £lO per annum, in the graut towards the cost of each Plunket Society car as from April 1 and £2O towards car expenses of each Plunket nurse who used her own car on the Society’s work. The secretary reported that the annual street stall aud badge day effort had realised the record total of £lB9 13s lOd and the competition sponsored by Garner’s Store £SS 6s 3d, making a grand total of £275 Os Id. The secretary was authorised to convey the committee's appreciation to Mr. Garner for all his assistance in sponsoring such a successful competition to aid the funds which had also stimulated iuterest in the street day sales. The president, further moved that appreciation of Mr. Garner’s public spirited efforts on behalf of the Society be placed on record. Mrs. Petersen read the minutes of the Dominion Council meeting held in Wellington last November. The Plunket Nurse (Miss A. M. Kearns) reported that 1923 visits had been paid to office (952 adults, SS4 babies, and 87 older children). There had been 10-1 visits to homes and there were 40 new cases. Four visits had been paid to Foxton where visits to office totalled 252 (110 adults, 100 I babies, 15 older children). Six new cases had been registered. 'Sales for the month amounted to £7 14s; member(ship fees £4 ss; donations, Mesdames ! J. B. Mitchell 10s, J. H. Hillas 10s, together with £1 16s 4d accrued from the j collection box, making a total of £l4 116 s 4d. —The report was adopted.
