Received Monday, 11.40 p.m. LONDON, April 21. The Daily Telegraph says the Germans claim that the British are retreating to Lamia. The Berlin radio announces the capture of Volo. Lamia, which is about 95 miles north-west of Athens, is In the Othorys branch of the Pindus mountain range which forms the southern boundary of Thessaly and is at the eastern end of the narrowest part of the Greek peninsula. The distance from the Gulf of Lamia in the cast to the Gulf of Arta in the west is about 75 miles and the high mountain range rising to over 7000 feet forms the best natural defensive line in Greece.
