In connection with the announcement regarding the reconstruction of tho highway immediately north of Taihape, the deviation provided for is not via Alataroa but via Ngawaka. This is a short route over a fairly good road an<l motorists using this deviation should not turn off towards Alataroa but continue right on when they will rejoin the main highway. An unfortunate accident befell Audrey James, daughter of All*, and Airs. Barry James, of Bunnythorpe, ou the Taonui Road yesterday afternoon. Alighting from a bus she was knocked down by a passing car driven bv Air. A. R. McNae, of Apiti. Dr. W. M. Maclaurin, of Feilding, was summoned and the injured girl was removed to the Feilding private hospital for attention and observation. In connection with the Patriotic Fund appeal on Anzac Night, when a special programme will be broadcast over the radio stations, arrangements have been completed for the Feilding and district area to be covered by the Palmerston North broadcast station. The proposal is that citizens and settlers make donations per phono and these will bo announced over the air as the pro gramme proceeds.
