Cr. W. Mouldey has decided not to recontest the sent he occupies on the Palmerston North City Council at the forthcoming municipal election. Private advice has been received in Palmerston North to the effect that Captain W. D. Philp has been promoted to. the rank of major in the 2nd N.Z.E.F. Prior to his enlisting in the Expeditionary Force Captain Philp was officer commanding the Bth Field Battery. N.Z.A.
Mr. H. Grinstead received word from the Homeland yesterday of the passing of his brother, Mr. Laurie Grinstead, J.P. The late Mr. Grinstead was for many years associate pastor of the Church of Christ, Edinburgh. After his retirement from business he held the honoured position of general secretary of Foreign Missions of the Associated Churches of Christ. “L.G., ” as ho was known in the churches, had a.very large circle of personal friends in New Zealand.
