Gold Ring in Waste
Tho discovery of a gold signet ring among more than 20,000 parcels collected in the Christchurch waste materials drive of some weeks ago has brought to light a strange coincidence. After the drive, a man whose name begins with B reported to the Christchurch City Council that he feared a gold signet ring, bearing his initials, I had fallen into the sack containing his ' waste material offering. A careful watch was kept for a ring when the huge number of parcels was being sorted at the council’s yard. This rc- i suited in the discovery of a gold signet ' ring, • and, although the surname initial was a B, it was not the ring about which inquiry had been made. The landlady glanced round the table at her twelve hungry boarders before starting to carve the father sad-looking chicken. In rapid succession she asked each which part of tho fowl he preferred. Ten of them decided on legs. The carver dropped her knife with a clatter on the dish. “What' do you imagine this is?” she said, sarcastically, pointing to the chicken. “A centipede, or what?” “Oh, no, replied the boarder who had been served, ‘ ‘Judging by the piece of neck I’ve got, I should imagine it was a giraffe.” TRY ZANN AT OUR EXPENSE. 9d. stamps brings generous trial treatment of Zann pile remedy.
