Dannevirke Wedding

POOLE—SIMMONS In the late afternoon of Saturday, January 25, at St. John’s Church, Dannevirlce, the wedding of Elsie Mavis, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Simmons, of Mangamaire, and Hubert Mac, elder son of Mr. H. JPoole, Ransom Street, Dannevirke, and the late Mrs Agnes Poole, was solom- , nised by Canon G. B. Stephenson. The wedding music was played by Mr. 11. T. Russel lj and as the bride left the church , she was presented with a horse-shoe by Miss Cathie Poole. i The bride was given away by her father and attended by three bridesmaids, the Misses Cora Franklin (chief) of Ti Tree Point, Belle Simmons, sister of the bride, and Margaret Poole, the ’groom’s sister. She looked charming in a gown of palest pink lace cut on classical lines. The bodice was finished with a scalloped, heart-shaped neck-line, I the sleeves being gathered at the top and .scalloped over the hands. A scalloped train was finished with a spray of pink lilies, behind which was a spray of orange blossom that had been j worn bv her grandmother. Her bouquet was of cream and pink roses, j The bridesmaids wore attractive frocks of crushed strawberry georgette ■with gathered shoulders and puffed; sleeves and v-shaped necklines, the skirts being four gored. They carried bouquets of pink roses, dahlas and car Mr. D. Simmons, brother of the bride, attended the bridegroom as best man end the groomsmen were Messrs. *N. Simmons and E. Hooper-Smith. Mr. I). MacDonald and Mr. B. Riddell were ushers at the church. A reception, followed by a, dance, was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall where the guests were received bv Mrs. j Simmons whose gown was of ra’T ! floral georgette with navy lace bolero land che had navy accessories to tone. . j Assisting was Mrs. Poole, wearing i black georgette with long spotted net . sleeves, a black hat and accessories, i The bridegroom’s present to the l bride was a Russian squirrel fur and to ' the bridesmaids he gave crystal neck- > laces. For travelling the bride had 1 chosen a cinnamon frock and bolero i with cinnamon and green shoes, a moss 1 green hat and cinnamon purse and } gloves. Mr. and Airs. H. M. Poole have made ' their home at Motea.
