Fair to Fine at First
Fer Press Association. ■WELLINGTON, Feb. 19. The pressure remains high to the east and over New Zealand, while a slight depression is approaching across the south Tasman Sea. Winds: Northerly to north-westerh prevailing at first. Force strong in exposed positions about and south of Cook Strait, but elsewhere moderate. A change to fresh westerlies and later south-westerlies extending over the southern half of the South Island. Seas rather rough in Cook and Foyeaux Straits; elsewhere Might to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to fresh north-westerly winds, changing during the next 24 hours to southwesterly in the southern portion. Seas becoming rather rough in the south, otherwise moderate. Weather: Drizzle and later rain developing in and west of the ranges from the Wellington province southwards. Elsewhere fair to fine at first, but scattered rain gradually extending to Southland, Otago and South Canterbury. Temperatures: Mild to warm, but falling later in the south. YESTERDAY’S TEMPERATURES Maximum 67 degrees F. Minimum 60 degrees F.
