Wanganui Education Board
REQUESTS FROM SCHOOL COMMITTEES A meeting of the Wanganui Education Board was held at Wanganui yesterday. The chief agricultural instructor recommended that the department’s grant of £9O be divided equally between tho Wanganui-Main Trunk and Mana-watu-Oroua, clubs. The Education Department ’ advised that i’t had no objection to offer to the granting of the use of old buildings to the Home Guard. Longburn.—The question of a charge for water for two residents connected with the school artesian supply was discussed and a charge of £2 per annum was fixed. Apiti. —The committee asked for a su'bsidy for erecting school baths. —The architect was instructed to report ou the water supply. The department asked for a list of works the board considered should be carried out during the next 12 months. It was left to the chairman, secretary and architect to supply the information. A request was received from the Ohingaiti District Schools’ Sports Association for the closing of four schools ou February 28 to enable the first annual district sports meeting to be held at Ohingaiti. —Granted. The building of the Ranglotu School was again raised and the secretary reported that progress with the finalising of the purchase of the site had been Staff Changes. After this building has been shifted from its present position an opportunity will be takeu to complete the laying of the concrete areas. Oroua Downs: To prepare for an addition to the main school building. Foxton: To arrange for the road line fencing of the Claris site.
