(From Our Own Correspondent.) Mr. and Mrs. G. Eddie are back from a visit to Hastings. Miss A. M. riargent is on a visit to J her brother in Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. H. bargont and family | have returned to Auckland after spend- * ing tho holidays in this district. ii Mr. and Mrs. C. James and family, | Wanganui, spent the Christmas and j New Year holidays as the guests of . Mrs. M. J. Beech, Maugahao. Mr. and Mr. J. F. Montagu have returned to Hamilton after visiting Airs. ; M. J. Beech. j Mrs. Peter Beech has returned from a holiday spent with her father, Mr. D. Lynch, at {Shannon. i Mr. and Mrs. Frank Day and family spent Christmas with Air. and Mrs. \V. ; l l ’. Day. j Mr. und Mrs. Kennedy (Hastings), pioneer residents of this district, have been on a round of visits here. Alessrs. G. H. Day and Gordon Eddie < leave this week to enter Burnham camp • with the Fourth Reinforcements. Mr. Norman Rowse goes to Burnham also. ; Their many friends will wish them j every success in their undertakings. Alisa B. Wylie is spending the hoii . days with her parents at Nikau. Mr. and Airs. Feilding spent tho 2 Christmas holidays with Airs. H. Sowry, Nikau. A pleasing incident took placo at the |, | local school on breakiug-up day when | parents and pupils assembled to make a small presentation to Aliss AlcArdle in appreciation of the work done for the j pupils during the school year. Loyo \ | Vile referred to Miss McArdle’s J thoughtfulness and kindness lo her j pupils and his remarks were endorsed', (by Sydney Ebbott, who made the pre-| ; sentation/ Alargaret Eising presented ' Miss AlcArdle with a bouquet. Aliss n AlcArdle returned thanks and then surprised the children with a Christmas ' tree containing gifts for all. The si rig- ■ ing of Christmas carols brought a very pleasant hour to a close.
