Bowlers Have Successful Day
OXLEY CUP RETURNS FROM EKETAHUNA Pahiatua bowlers enjoyed a successful day on Saturday W'hen Eketahuna was defeated in two matches so that the Byrne Cup was retained and the Oxley Cup regained for Pahiatua. In the Byrne Cup match, played on the Pahiatua green, tho visitors, Edge, Christie, Williams and Hornblow lost by 13 —39, finding difficulty with the green, which was very fast. The victorious Pahiatua rink comprised L. H. Hartley’, R. Davey, J. H. Smith and R. Gregory. Pahiatua players, S. Macrae, G. Russell, P. Walsh and A. Bisset, visited Eketahuna in search of the Oxley Cup which they won from Fraser, Rogers, Frcdricksen and Hooper, the score being 22 —’20. On the Pahiatua green a number of competition games were played. Four rinks competed for the Kelsey Seals in a tournament of three games of eight heads each. Tho winners were Yewen, W. J. Smith, McCardle and P. Bisset. In the handicap pairs, Hartley and Petersen beat Yew r en and Pilkinton, Macrae and Smith beat Truscott and Davey, and Cottier (substituting for Goer) and Boyens beat McDonald and Swanney. In the senior championship singles Taylor beat Mills and Pilkinton beat Davy', while in the junior singles Hutton beat Sillctt.
