Received Friday, 7.45 p.m. LONDON, Jan. t. The Daily Telegraph says a meet ration reduction to Is 6d per head per werth has been announced. During the week housewives in many parts of the country have been receiving smaller joints as the result of a general shortage which forced butchers to make an unofficial cut in the ration well below the Is lOd level. Many retailers were allotting only Is 2d worth. The butchers in one area reduced the ration to sixpence. The shortage is due to the fact that the Ministry of Food has been forced to release less meat than usual, largely owing to difficulties following the Christmas distribution. The Evening News says some North London butchers were forced to close I to-day because they had no ment. Others opened for a few hours till they &old out.
