French Navy on Move to African Ports
NEGOTIATIONS BETWEEN VICHY AND GERMANY BROKEN OFF LONDON, Jan. 3. It is reported without confirmation from Lisbon that the negotiations between the Vichy Government and Germany have been broken up. The Lisbon correspondent of the Daily Express says that Afarshal Petain is moving the French Navy unit by unit to African ports in preparation for any sudden ultimatum from Hitler. When Alarshal Petain recently visited Toulon he found the Strasbourg, the new Gi,ooo-ton battleship, lying in the lmrVmv also 12 destroyers and torpedoboats, but only the Strasbourg and two destroyers were there to-day.
