Cricket Tourists
GRATTON (AUCKLAND) TO MEET MANAWATU The Grafton (Auckland) touring cricket team -will try conclusions with a strong Manawatu side at the ►Sportsground, Palmerston North, to-morrow and on Saturday, play commencing each day at 11 a.m. The visitors are fresh from games at New Plymouth (against North Taranaki), Hawera (against South Taranaki), Wanganui and Marton (against Kangitikei), at which centres the team has impressed cricket enthusiasts with its playing ability, and is strong iu all departments of the game. Among the tourists are several Plunket Shield and Auckland representative players, including Verdun Scott and Ces. Burke, members of Auckland’s winning eleven at Wellington last week, Bcott incidcutly scoring the winning hit. Other well-kown Auckland representatives are Nelson Martin, the captain of the side, and Noel McMahon, who made a brilliant knock of. 93 at Hawera last Saturday. The remaining members of the side have good records and after four games together should be in great fettle for the Manawatu game, the last of the tour.
