Increasing Power Of Public Opinion
REASON FOR LAVAL’S FALL Received Sunday, 31.4 p..m LONDON, Dec. 15. The Free French News Agency says: “Laval ’3 departure proves the increasing power of public opinion in France where Laval’s unpopularity had increased to hatred. “Flandin congratulated Hitler after Muuicli recently and endorsed the ‘New Order,’ but is not like Laval, the personification of hostility to Britain. Flandin has recently been cherishing the idea of mediating between Britain and Germany for which reason he way pursue a more flexible foreign policy. Flandin’s appointment does not guarantee rapprochement with Britain but he will not forget that public opinion brought down Laval.”
