Repertory Society Staging
“DEAR OCTOPUS” WELL RECEIVED Many sides of family life are clearly portrayed in “Dear Octopus,” the' thrce-act play by l>odio Smith, which the Palmerston North Repertory Society is staging at tho present time as a production. J)nst night’s audience was again a largo one, many heard of the success which attended the'
opening presentation on Thursday evening and being anxious not to miss the opportunity of seeing a really worthwhile performance. The play requires a fairly large cast and the producer, Mr. M. H. Oram, is to be congratulated on his choice. New faces are seen over the footlights but there is ample evidence of careful training behind a natural talent. Weaknesses which creep in here and there into amateur theatricAle, are few. Special lighting effects I have been attempted with success. Ths final presentation will be to-night.
