Labour’s Sympathy for Greece
COWARDLY AND DESPICABLE ACT (British Official Wireless) Received Friday, 10.30 p.m. RUGBY, Oct. 31. After a meeting to day the National Council of Labour, which was attended by Mr. C. R. Attlee, issued the following statement: 4 ‘The National Council of Labour expresses its detestation of the cowardly and despicable act of wanton aggression committed by Mus. *olini against the Greek nation. This *BB r ***i°n like similar crimes committed by the Axis Powers was porpetrated despite the most categorical pledges given by the Fascist Government that Italy had no warlike intentions against Greece. “The council, on behalf of the British Trades Union of Labour and co-operative movements, sends its greetings to the people of Greece and 4ibania and assures them that British
workers are with them in their gallant resistance to Nazi and Fascist tyranny, and are confident of final victory foi our common cause. 9 9
