MBS. M. E. COUSINS The late Mrs. M. E. Cousins, who passed away on Tuesday in a private hospital in Palmerston North, had an association with tho city which extended back over 30 years, and in her younger days knew the goldmining districts about the Clutha and Molyneux Rivers, where her parents lived for some time. Mrs. Cousins was 80 years of age. Richmond, Melbourne, was Mrs. Cousins’ birthplace, and she came to New Zealand with her parents in tho early goldmining days, Ixer father and mother residing in the Clutha and Molyneux districts for a number of years. Fifty-one years ago she married the late Mr. Francis Beaumont Cousins, who came from Biggleswade, Bedfordshire, England, and shortly after the marriage they went to Melbourne, living there for about five years before returning to New Zealand and settling in Palmerston North. Mr. Cousins passed away aoout nine years ago. Mrs. Cousins had a quiet and unassuming nature. In her earlier years she gave freely of her nursing experience and those in neea of such care received her gratuitous attention. Mrs. Cousins leaves a family of four, one daughter and three sons: Mrs. C. Murphy (Auckland) and Messrs Fred, F. M., and B. Cousins (Palmerston North). Mr. F. Murphy (Palmerston North) is a brother, and a sister resides in Auckland. The late Mrs. Cousins was a member of St. Patrick's Church, at which Requiem Mass was held on Wednesday.
