Feilding Returned Soldiers
The committee of the Feilding Returned Soldiers’ Association met on Thursday evening, Mr. F. J. Allen (vice-president) presiding. Mr. Z. McLeod, the newly-elected member of the committee, to replace Mr. G. M. Moffitt, was cordially wel corned. Members expressed regret at learn ing of the motor accident to Sister Smith, who is a patient in the Palmerston North Hospital. It was agreed to forward a letter of sympathy together with the wishes for her speedy recovery. It was agreed to accord every sup port to the Home Guard movement and it was recommended that members of Class 2 Reserve be incorporated in the movement. Regarding the recent railway accident, mention was made of the splendid services of Captain K. G. Salmond, N.Z.M.C., and it was agreed to forward him a letter of congratulation. A report on the state of the branch membership revealed that it stood at 259 and would shortly reach 300 when outstanding subscriptions %-ere collect ed. This was the highest membership on record.
