Axis Japanese Alliance
Announced From Berlin and Tokio JAP LEADERS PREPARED TO DEFY U.S. AND BRITAIN United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Received Friday, 9.20 p.m. LONDON, Sept. 27. It is authoritatively stated from Tokio that the Emperor hag sanctioned the Italian-German alliance, which will not be signed pending tne Privy Council’s ratification, which is expected daily, due to the Radicals clamouring for an early announcement of the alliance. It is understood Herr Stahmers has assured the Japanese that the Rus-sian-German Pact is working well and for this reason he urged Japan to turn to Russia. Diplomatic circles believe the present Japanese Government is prepared to defy England and America because of promises of German support. Tokio announces that Cabinet has appointed ten permanent managers for the establishment of the new national structure, including the Axisminded Siego Nakano, Colonel Kingoro, Mr. Hashimoto and the Domei News Agency’s president (Mr. Inosuke Furuno), also Count Yoriyasu. Mr. Arima, Prince Konoye’s friend, has been appointed Director-General. The Berlin radio also announced the alliance, but stated that the Axis Powers would not take part in a Far Eastern war, neither would Japan enter the European conflict.
