Manawatu Co-operative Building Society
A general meeting of shareholders of the Manawatu Co-operative Building Society was held last night. Mr. J. J. O’Shea presided and with him were Messrs. G. G. Priest, W. H. Ward, G. D. Pattle and G. B. Cope (directors). The result of ballots were as follows:—500, J. Cull, Palmerston North, No. 2 Group; £SOO, C. L. Brown, Foxton, No. 4 Group; £2OO, Miss A. D. Claphain, Hawera, £2OO, C. P. Gray, Otaki, £SOO, No. 6 Group; £3OO, K. Thompson, Pahiatua, £2OO, Mrs. D. M. Travers, Palmerston North, No. 7 Group. Messrs. K. Taylor and G. B. Cope acted as scrutineers. The following free of interest loans w r ere finally approved upon the recommendation of the society’s solicitors:— No. 2 Group, £500; No. 4 Group, £300; No. 5 Group, £500; No. 6 Group, £700; No. 7 Group, £SOO. It was stated that shareholders were investing their loans in new house properties and was thus helping to reduce the shortage of homes.
