Mr. and Mnt J. Osborne and Margaret Osborne Straford are holidaying in this district as the guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. Marshall.

Mr. and Mrs. Humphrey and Messrs. Doug, and Keg. Humphrey were recent week-end visitors to Masterteu where they were the guests of Mrs. Hum-. phrey’s mother, Mr*. Reid, Sot. Mr. E. Marshall left for the Xgaruawahia Military Camp last week-end, having joined the Kailway Construction Company. Mr. C. Pilcher, Otorohonga, is the guest of his sister, Mrs. U. B. Miles, Hleasant’a Koad. Mrs. J. Macfarlane has returned home from a holiday spent with relatives in the Waikato district. Mrs. A. Marshall was a visitor to Wellington during the week end. Mrs. L. Cole visited Taihape last week-end and was the guest of her sister, Mrs. Belk. Mr. W. Miles, Levin, was a recent visitor to this district and was the guest of his brother, Mr. U. B. Milea I'leasant’s Koad. Mrs. W. Miles, Levin, has been the guest of her father, Mr. 1. Marshall. The friends of Mr. 1. Marshall will regret to learn that he is indisposed and will wish him a speedy recovery. Mrs. D. Younger, “Cinder Hill,lias been holidaying with relatives in Wanganui. Mr. and Mrs. E. Marshall, Masterton, spent the week-end with the former's mother Mrs. A. Marshall. Mr. Clere, Wellington, was a recent visitor to the district and was the guest of his daughter, Miss Clere, Makara Koad. There was a splendid attendance of parents and childreu at the Methodist Sunday Hchool Anniversary last Sunday afternoon. The Rev. Robinson conducted the service and delivered an inspiring address to the children and parents. The singing of special hymns by the Sunday school children was a feature of the service. Solo parts were sung by Marie Mitchell and fan Cole, iicv. Robinson, assisted by Mr. M. Leet, superintendent of tue Sunday school, thee presented the prizes to the following childreu:—Mary and Joan Bhort, Noeline James, Marie and Audrey Mil<*nell, Lyra and Beulah Christian, Prudence Winder, Judith Hamilton, May Marshall, Beverley Cowdrey, June Beaianke, Maurice Cowdrey, lau and Robin Watherstou, Trevor Hearanke, Jackie Christian, lan Cole, Graham Leet, Lindsay Wilson, Ken Mitchell. A tribute was paid by Kev. Robinson to the work doue by Mr. and Mrs. Leet in conducting the Sunday school ser- \ ice each Sunday. The members of the Cheltenham Piug Pong Club visited Stanway last Tuesday evening when a match was played with the members of the Stanway A and B teams. Both the Cheltenham A und B teams were superior, the scores being:—A teams, Cheltenham 50 Wtanway 14; B teams, Cheltenham 43 Stan way 21.
