The clerk came to work looking rather annoyed. “What is the matter t” asked the secretary. “I had a row with my wife this morning,” was the reply. “Well,” said the secretary, “you should never brood over it or bear malice. You should have gone back and kissed her, and asked forgiveness.” “I did,” retorted the clerk. “I went back very quietly, crept behind her, put one hand, over her eyes, and kissed her, and she said: ‘l'll have one quart today, milkman, I am making a rice pudding’! ”
