NAZI SECRET WEAPON REVEALED?
200 German Mines Washed Ashore; Berlin’s Blockade Plan (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received 25, 12.45 p.m.) LONDON, Nov. 24. Officials say that intensive efforts are being made by naval authorities to combat the latest menace—magnetic mines. A great team of scientists is seeking countermeasures. No ports have been closed. A convoy arrived safely in the Thames Estuary to-day. Naval officials take comfort from the fact that the successful anti-submarine campaign has forced the Nazis to resort to what it believed to be Hitler’s secret weapon—-namely, magnetic mines dropped by parachute. It is emphasised that submarine attacks on shipping would be the most successful method if they could be carried out, whereas hundreds of mines must go without victims. Two hundred German mines have been washed ashore on the coast of Yorkshire.
