Classic Wedding Gown For Recent Bride

FIDLER—PRIOR Wearing a classic wedding gown of ivory slipper satin, May, youngest daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. A. E. Prior, of Halcombe, made a lovely bride for her marriage to Arthur, only son of Mrs. and the late Mr. A. G. Fidler, of Feilding. St. John’s Anglican Church, Feilding, w r as the scene of the celebration, Archdeacon F. H. Petrie, M.A., conducting the ceremony, with Mr. A. E. Golding presiding at the organ. Artistic floral decorations featuring arum lilies and clematis had been effected in the church, where many friends and relatives gathered to witness the marriage. The bride was given in marriage by her brother, Mr. A. E. Prior, and her lovely gown was fashioned with a full court train designed with an appliqued edging in clematis pattern, the long sleeves, fully fashioned at the shoulder line, fitting tightly over the hands. An attractive scalloped neck line was finished in front with a spray of natural orange blossom; while a beautifully embroidered veil, worn over the face on entering the church, fell in soft folds from a coronet of the same blossoms. Ivory embroidered shoes and an exquisite bouquet composed of cream roses, iily-of-the-vajley, and fragantisima, intermingled with maiden hair fern, completed a charming picture. In attendance on the bride were two ’maids, Misses Ivy Cleland (chief) and Joyce Pedersen, of Ohakea. Dull finished lace in a dusky roso pink shade, worn over taffeta, fashioned their gowns, which featured sasfifcs of cornflower-blue velvet ribbons, a large roso of dusky pink making an effective finish at the necklines. Wide brimmed picture hats of burnt straw showed cornflower-blue velvet bows at the backs, elbow length gloves and matching shoes of pink and silver being worn. Their lovely bouquets were of maiden hair fern. On leaving the church, little Shirley Cleland (niece of the bride) presented her with a floral horseshoe). Tho bridegroom was supported by Mr. Colin McColl as best man, Mr. Cyril Johnson being groomsman, with Messrs. Ralph and Ray Cleland as ushers at the church. A reception was subsequently held where Mrs. Prior received her guests smartly attired in a gown of black silk crepe with floral panel worn with a matching picture hat. Her bouquet was of auriculars and maiden hair fern. Mrs. Fidler wore a distinctive suit of navy and white silk with matching hat, her bouquet being of anemonies in a contrasting shade of scarlet. The decorations at the reception were carried out in shaded Iceland poppies. When Mr. and Mrs. Fidler appeared later to leave on a tour of the north, the latter wore a smart ensemble of Wedgewood blue French crepe, worn with navy blue hat and accessories.

Following the reception the guests were entertained at Mrs. Prior’s homo in Makino Road, where the numerous beautiful wedding gifts bestowed on the couple were on view.
