Feast of Dancing At Opera House

Working enthusiastically all the year, pupils of the Broadway School of Dancing can be relied upon to present a high standard of w r ork at their annual recital, au event which is always eagerly anticipated and which takes place this afternoon and evening at tho Opera House. The fact that there are 38 items with pupils ranging from four years to grown-ups and that every phase of the dancer’s art including traditional ballet, character studies, national and folk numbers, tap, stories in mime and movement will be presented, gives some idea of the task that has confronted Miss Gwen Gibbs and her assistants and of the enjoymont that awaits patrons. A Snow White medley is one of the features and there are captivating peasant dances as well as many solo numbers but probably most delightful of all will be “Nights at the Ballet” which is styled an “ Operatique Interlude.” The curtain rises to disclose tho intermediates dressed in smart short ballet frocks of tho traditional white with white ribbons in thenhair to perform a graceful “adage” movement. The corpe do ballet then appears for a sparkling waltz variation followed by Lorraine Major, Betty Green and Alice Johnson in a fascinating “Pas de Trois” which demands quick and absolutely simultaneous movement. Audrey Wilson will then present a really lovely “Pas Seul” which reveals her finished technique and tho corps de ballet returns for the finale. The colourful costuming throughout should provide a feast of colour and in fact the recital promises to be a royal banquet.
