Terrace End School

MEETING OF COMMITTEE At a meeting of the Terrace End School Committeo this week there were present Messrs. W, B. Tennent (in the chair), L. Gardner, H. C. Milne, E. P. Wix, R. Donald, J. Fyfe, H. L. Ctmninghamo and K. G. Chamberlain (secretary). An apology for absence was received from Mr. E. G. Bennett. The committeo expressed appreciation of the work done by Mrs. Barsanti and Mrs. Wilson in connection with the bottle drive, which was expected to return nearly £lO. A vote of thanks to Mr. Fenton for his donation to the gala day funds was also passed. The acting-headmaster advised, that parents 7 day would be held at the end of November.

Tho Wanganui Education Board advised that Mrs. F. Allen had been appointed a supernumerary teacher at the school.

Various organisation arrangements in connection with the school gala day were put in hand. The report of the acting-headmaster (Mr. L. M. Morinc) stated inter-alia: “The roll number is now 604 and the average attendance 570. There are a large number of cases of influenza and a few cases of mumps. Nurse Cox has been at the school. A series of exhibits from the Dominion Museum has proved of great interest and help to the teachers. In the annual drive a total of 3500 bottles were collected by tho children.* *
