Big Fields Carded for Ellerslie

AUCKLAND MID-SPRING MEETING WIN-AND-PLACE BETTING Fine acceptances have been received for the Auckland Racing Club’s midspring meeting, which opens at Ellerslie to-day and concludes on Monday. The principal events on to-day's programme are the Alison Cup, the Takapuna Plate and Cheltenham Handicap, and it is reported that it will take considerable rain to have an appreciable effect on the course, wihcli is in splendid order. The betting will be win-and-place, and horses which might command respect in their engagements are as under:—

Melrose Handicap: Mayfair, Glen Connell, Monte Cristo.

Milford Handicap: Penzance, Boyal Message, Miss Valerie. Tiri Hurdle Race: Royal Abb, Ringshot, Ureklaw. Alison Cup: Golden Sheila, Birthday Boy, Koyevrus.
