Oroua Downs
From Our Own Correspondent. I The Oroua Downs School ground was once again the scene of activity when the n judging of the entries in the school calf 1 club competition took place. A large ‘ crowd of parents and others interested o ! attended, making the afternoon quite a r 1 success. Afternoon tea was served by i members of the school committee and was J | much appreciated by those present. The a judging of the calves was done by Mr. | Brewster, of Feilding, and Mr. I’rentice, *jof Kopane, while several young farmers - also took a hand and compared their ; judging with the officials. A cow judging i competition held for young farmers and 2 others interested was won by Mr. Allen . Nichols, with Mr. M. Mills second and Mrs. liaikes third. The various trophies c were presented by Mr. Croucher along , | with the award cards. Apologies for absence were received from Dr. Crawford, who donated a trophy, and from Mr. J. I E. Dench, secretary of the Young Farmj ers* Club. The following own trophies: jY.F.C. Cup (to be competed for annually) ' ; for yearling class, Bill Christensen: Dr. j! Crawford Cup (won outright) for type in r senior class, Lyndon Bird; medal donated jby Mr. V. Groom for second place, Noel » Proctor; cup donated by Mr. Marsdon (to -• he won outright) for seniors'in care and ’ attention class, Noel Proctor; second l place medal donated by Mr. V. Groom,
