Evans was always a bad payer, but one day he walked into the shop of the local grocer, and paid the whole of his account without a murmur. “That letter yon sent me did it," he explained to the man behind the counter. “I've never seen one like it. Why, it would get money out of a stone. How did you put it together!" The grocer smiled sadly. “I took the best bits out of the letter my wife sent me when she was on holiday," he explained.
