Boys’ High School Parents’ Association

ANNUAL MEETING HELD There was a large attendance at the annual meeting of the Palmerston North Boys’ High School Parents’ Association, held in the school assembly hall, Mr A. A. Langley was in the chair. Tho annual report stated into.- alia: “A perusal of the balance sheet discloses that the gross income for tho year was £206 I9s 7d, which, added to the balance carried forward of £9O 18s 4d, gave a working capital of £303 17s lid. Tho expenses were £34 Is lOd, pictures purchased cost £29 13s lid, the tennis courts wero top-

dressed at a cost of £32 10s Od, while £23 13s Gd was added to the assembly hall trust fund account (making the amount then £100). Wc now have in hand in the general account £1 S 3 ISs 8d and no doubt a substantial portion of this sum will be transferred by the incoming executive to the assembly hall trust fund account. The gala day balance sheet shows a net profit of £139 7s Id—a record. Over £SO was received from tho salo of badges and tickets by tho boys, and they deserve the highest commendation for the energy displayed and the success attained. The masters and boys also helped considerably on the day Id make the gala day ail outstanding function. A bridge afternoon was held resulting in a profit of £l6 13s—again a record, the expenses being practically nil. The executive desires to thank Mrs Murray for the use of the hostel and for her services in promoting the success of this function. It appears to be very difficult to raise the membership of the association to a satisfactory number. During the year tho total membership was 159, resulting in fees of £l9 17s Gd. There should be double this number and it would be a distinct encouragement if heads of families were sufficiently interested to acknowledge the help given the school by at least joining the association. It could well be pointed out to them that many who labour whole-heartedly for the good of their boys have no longer any personal interest in the school, bui do so knowing tho value to their boys in the past. To those parents who arc members of tho association, and who have helped us during tho year wc extend our thanks. Since our last annual meeting we regret that we have lost Mrs Harry Palmer, a life member of tho executive, and a member of the executive since its inception.” In speaking to the report, Mr Langley urged those present to help to obtain more funds for the hall. • Tho resignation of the treasurer, Mr A. J. King, was received with regret, and he was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his services. The following members were elected to the executive:—Mr and Mrs A. A. Langley, Mr and Mrs H.
