Notes of the Day
Mr. Des. Milner, of Feilding, has taken up the position of manager of a store at Otaki. For several years attached to a Feilding business, Mr. Milner was bade farewell last week and presented with a leather suitcase as a token of esteem by the employees. Wintry conditions were experienced in Feilding over the week-end and yesterday morning there were several hail showers and much heavy rain. The rainfall for the 48 hours ended 9 o’clock yesterday morning totalled 1.23in. with a fall of .63in. for the 24 hours ended yesterday morning. The countryside is now thoroughly saturated with conditions generally very cold. The Feilding Savage Club’s gathering on Saturday evening witnessed the greeting of a dozen new members. The orchestra, under the baton of Savage J. Fleetwood, led the singing of Thomas Bracken’s New Zealand Anthem. The solo singers of the evening were Savages W. Nicholls, S. Johnston and A. Levy, while other contributors to the merry evening were Savages R. Woojl, McDowall, F. Moore and Palmer.
