Tug Leaves Lyttelton

CHRISTCHURCH, July £3. The Lyttelton Harbour Board’s new tug Lyttelton II was despatched at 4.30 p.m. to-day for Wanganui under a towing hire to the Port Line. She will assist in attempts to refloat the stranded Port Bowen. It is expected that the tug will reach Wauganui about 1.30 p.m. to-morrow in time to assist in any attempt that may be made at liighwatcr to-morrow afternoon. On Saturday tho crew were told definitely that tho tug would not be required and it is understood that the mishap to the Wellington tug Toia caused the summons to be sent to Lyttelton. Tho sounding of the tug’s siren soon after noon caused a bustle at the port. An augmented crew was signed on and the tug sailed at 4.30 p.m., with Captain A. R. Champion, tho harbour board’s second pilot, in command.
