From Our Own Correspondent. Gift Evening A gift evening was held recently, when a number of friends and i*elatives gather,ed to honour Miss Faye and Mr. Ray Sullivan, who have since been married. Dancing was the order of the evening and a happy time was spent, the programme being in the hands of Mr. Frank McKinley. Following supper Mr. McKinley wished Miss Faye and Mr. Sullivan every happiness in their married life and asked them to accept the numerous gifts. Mr. Sullivan thanked all for the gifts and the good wishes betsowed upon them that evening. Personal and General Mr. I. Marshall has returned home from holiday spent at Rotorua. Mr. and Mrs. Leet and Graham have returned home frefm Plimmerton, Mr. Leet being restored to health and has resumed teaching at our local school. Mr. Lewis, who has been acting in tile capacity of relieving teacher, is now relieving at the Porewa School. Mr. and Mrs. D. Jones, of Wellington, were recent visitors to Stan way, being the guests of the formers’ sister, Mrs. P. Mr. E. Marshall is home again from a holiday spent at Otaki. An event of interest to many settlers took place on Wednesday last, when Mr. Isaac Marshall visited Wanganui, where lie and Mr. Tom James held joint birthday celebrations. Mr. I. Marshall is the oldest resident of this district, having come to Stanway when a young man to assist his father hew a home from the then dense bush. Mr. Marshall celebrated his S2nd birthday on Monday and Mr. James attained his 83rd birthday on AVednesday. Mr. James was a resident of tho district for many years and was a respected and honoured friend of all who knew him. To these two grand “old merr’ the congratulations of the district are extended. Final arrangements are completed for the concert and dance being held on Friday by the women’s institute. Patrons are promised an excellent evening’s entertainment.
