Sensational Victory
CRAWFORD BEATS AMERICAN TENNIS STAR BOSTON, July 20. Jack Crawford, the Australian tennis player, achieved a sensational victory over Mulloy, 7-5, 6-1, 3-6, 8-6. Crawford seemed to have the match well in hand as he ran out the first two sets, but midway in the third he tired badly. Mulloy turned the tables, drop-shoting and running Crawford from corner to corner. Mulloy made 15 placements in that set, six on dropshots. Crawford ended the match with an unusual serving exhibition. He twice double-faulted at important points, and then served two burning aces from deuce to win Crawford meet* Mako on Saturday. “AUSTRALIA HAS GOT A PRETTY GOOD TEAM” NEW YORK, July 20. Riggs, returning from Wimbledon, in a statement to tho Press ho said ho and Cook would attempt to obtain the doubles berth in the U.S. Davis Cup team, but ho declined to predict the outcome of the challenge round. “Australia has got a pretty good team,” ho added.
