Paper Dress Ablaze

An unpleasant experience befel one of the young women who took part in a j set at the Auckland movie ball. The I costume in which she was rehearsing prior to attending the ball became ignited when it came into contact with a radiator. All those who were taking part in tho set met lor a dress rehearsal just prior to leaving for the ball. The 3’oung women were wearing Hawaiian costumes, the skirts composed ol’ strips of crepe paper. When Miss Gay Fraser accidentally touched the radiator her skirt burst into flames. One of the men, assisted by Mrs. E. E. Boyle, extinguished the flames in time to save Miss Fraser from injur}’. In spite of the fact that she was suffering from shock, she insisted on retaining her place in the set. Similar paper to that from which the previous skirt was made was hastily procured from neighbours, and man}’ hands made quick work of fashioning a new skirt. The party arirved at the ball in time to present their floor show and win the first prize.
