Admit Your Age
SMART TO BE FIFTY EXPERT ADVISES WOMEN “Don’t be afraid to admit your age. Face the facts squarely, then fling a challenge to the years by looking ‘ageless’ in appearance. That is what the leaders in tho world of fashion and beauty are doing on two continents, and that is why they are now holding the centre of tho stage, demanding admiration and attention, and getting it. Today it’s smart to be thirty or fifty.” This is the advice to women offered by Aladame Stella Rubinstein, beauty expert, who is on a tour of New Zealand. She has travelled in the principal cities of Europe—Geneva, Copenhagen, Berlin, Vienna, Paris and London and she advised queens and leading Continental socialites. She has toured the United States and South America and has purveyed. beauty advice to America’s brightest stars of stage and screen. When Aladame Rubinstein was in North Africa, she was invited by the Prince of all the Arabs in Africa to consult with his wives. And all her varied experience has convinced her of the absolute truth of the contention that “youth and beauty arc within the reach of every woman.” “This is an era of tho glorification of tho woman of thirty and over,” she declared. “Look at the new fashions of this year—and you will be immediately convinced of this. Upswept hair styles emphasise poise, grace, maturity; they give women a queenly, grand-dame appearance; they say an end forever to boyish flappers. The new Louis XIV. inspired gowns with their elegance and femininity call for feminine, rounded figures, for mature but subtle curves. The ingenue is demode. The immature, unsophisticated qualities of the young girls are to-day being overshadowed by the more dynamic, more experienced charms of tho woman of years who has been clever enough to retain her youthful appearance. “Tho Paris couturiers have outdone themselves to ereato modes that will 1 set off to advantage the charms of the woman of forty and over,” said Madamo Rubinstein—then added, “but to do justice to them, you must not shut your eyes and let age take you unaware. You must not let years take their toll in wrinkles on your face or rolls of fat on your figure. True, it requires work to retain a youthful figure and contour, but tho results are well worth it when you find yourself the centre of attraction everywhere.” Aladame Rubinstein comes to the P.D.C. at the end of July.
