German Ketch Returning to Auckland

THREE NEW ZEALANDERS ABOARD AUCKLAND, July 10. Advice has been received that the German ketch Te Rapunga left Vancouver on June 13 on its return voyage to New Zealand after an absence of more than three years. The Te Rapunga, a seven-ton vessel, left Germany in 3930 on a leisurely world cruise and reached Auckland in 1934 with Captain Dibbern as skipper, Hhc is making the return voyage by way of Victoria, Han Francisco, Tahiti, Samoa and the Pacific Islands.

During her earlier visit to Auckland the Te Rapunga became very wellknown among yachtsmen as a competitor in several ocean races. She made a number of cruises out of port before sailing late in 1935 for Vancouver via Island ports. For the voyage she carried as a crew Miss Eileen Morris, of Napier, and Messrs R. Murdock and Black, of Gisborne. Since their arrival at Vancouver more than a year ago Captain Dibbern, Miss Morris and Mr. Murdock have delivered a series of lectures. Air. Murdock is now on the staff of a newspaper at Victoria, British Columbia.
