MILITARY AUTHORITIES BREAK OFF RELATIONS

LONDON, July 9. The Tokio correspondent of The Times says that the Anglo-Japanese conference concerning Tientsin is expected to open on either Wednesday or Thursday. The Japanese military and civilian delegates held a preliminary conference at the week-end rnd drew up proposals for submission to Cabinet on Tuesday.

Sixty thousand people participated in an anti-British rally at Kobe, Japan. Hostile resolutions passed by the rally are to be cabled to Mr Chamberlain, Lord Halifax, and Sir Archibald ClarkKerr (British Ambassador to China). Similar meetings were held at Morioya and Peiping.
