Japs Apologise For Damaging Gunboat
NEW REGIME IN NORTH CHINA Received Sunday, 9.50 p.m. SHANGHAI, July 8. The British marine engineer, Mr. Wintcrbottom, has been released by the Japanese, who have also apologised for damage done to the British gunboat Falcon, which was spattered by bomb fragments. The Japanese spokesman at Tientsin said a new regime in North China is being formed. The Chinese puppet Governments at Poking and Nanking will meet at Tsingtao on Monday to elect a supreme leader. It is expected Changwei will be chosen.
