Foxton Bride in White And Silver Cloque

SUTHERLAND—OSBORNE Masses of hydrangeas and Iceland poppies and a pretty floral wedding bell formed the artistic decorations at the * Methodist Church, Foxton, on a recent Saturday afternoon, when Marcia Caroline, second daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. A. R. Osborne, of Robinson Street, Foxton, was married to Gordon Donald, only son of Mrs. and tho late Mr. D. Sutherland, of Purcell Street, Foxton. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. C. S. L. Oliver and Mrs. J. F. Riches presided at the organ, j The bride, who was escorted by Mr. j H. B. W. Osborne, liad chosen a lovely gown of white bridal cloque, patterned with a dainty silver leaf design and effectively cut on empire lines. The bodice, -which was buttoned to the waistline at the back with a row of tiny buttons, was made with tight-fitting sleeves, pointed over the hands and finished with a matching row of buttons. Tho slim-fitting skirt was gracefully fashioned to form an oval train and her beautifully embroidered veil of white net, which was held in place with a coronet of orange blossom, filmed her ; frock to form a second train. Her picturesque bouquet of pink lilies and maidenhair fern, completed a very charming toilette. | Tho bridesmaids, Miss Laura Leahy, .of Foxton, cousin of the bridegroom, and Miss Melva King, cousin of the bride, were gowned alike in becoming frocks of apricot ring velvet, cut on similar lines to the bride’s gown. The bodices, buttoned at tho back, featured short sleeves in the pretty new butterfiy stylo and the long skirts were gracefully trained. Halos of gold leaves, with posies of gold flowers over the cars made very attractive head-dresses and they wore gold-lace mittens and gold shoes and carried bouquets of roses and maidenhair fern. The two bridesmaids also wore necklaces of pearls, the gift of the bridegroom. | The bouquets carried by the bridal party were the work of the bride’s | cousin, Mrs. H. Osborne, and tho halos worn by the bridesmaids were made by Mrs. G. H. King, of Norbiton Road, cousin of the bride. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr. W. Sutherland, of Biinnvthorpe, a cousin of the bridegroom, and the groomsman was Mr. H. Vette, of Eangiora, also a cousin of the bridegroom. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Town Hall supper-room, ( where the guests were received by Mrs. 1 A. R. Osborne who was attired * in a ! smart ensemble of navy-blue satin backed matalasse, embroidered in green with which she wore green accessories, a fur stole and a shoulder spray of violets and maidenhair fern. Mrs. Osborne was assisted by Mrs. D. Sutherland, who | wore a black tailored costume with l black accessories and a fur stole, and her shoulder spray was of violets and fern.
