An Unusaal Trophy What is probably a unique trophy is now on view m an. Invercargill shop. The trophy consists of a metai eagle taken from a captured German standard and suspended from the mouth of the bird is a German Iron Cross. Presented to tho Dunedin Returned Soldiers’ Association by Mr. A. Grant for annual competition between “digger” bowlers of Dunedin and Invercargill, the trophy is a striking one and is attracting much interest. Both the eagle and the cross were obtained during the battle of the Somme in 1916. The trophy was first competed for early this year when the Dunedin bowlers were successful and it has been sent to Invercargill to be displayed.
