All candidates must have attained the age of 17i but not of 28 years, be unmarried, able to pass the prescribed medical examination, aud educated up to the standard of School Certificate or the University Entrance Examination. IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT APPLICANTS SHALL HAVE ATTAINED THE STANDARD OF EDUCATION REQUIRED. (a) SHORT SERVICE COMMISSIONS. Candidates for appointment to short service commissions will undertake an initial training period of approximately eight months in New Zealand before proceeding overseas to complete a rurtlier five years’ service in the Royal Air Force. A candidate on completing his service in the Royal Air Force will be required to serve lor a period of five years on the Reserve. Return passage to New Zealand and a gratuity of £4OO is paid uu completion of the active service period. (b) K.N.Z.A.F. RESERVE (PILOT'S SECTION). On appointment to the Pilot’s section of the Royal New Zealand Air Force Reserve a candidate is required to undergo an initial period of approximately eight mouths' continuous training.
