Wrestling-Boxing

COMBINED TOURNAMENT For tho second time this season, Palmerston’s boxing and wrestling fans will have the opportunity of seeing the local amateurs in action when, on Thursday night, the combined amateur tournament is staged. Palmerston North is practically tho only centre in the Dominion in which both of these sports are represented on one programme, so a somewhat unique opportunity is offered. What is virtually a contest between the pick of the local talent and the best that the Wellington gymnasiums can provide in the way of boxers and wrestlers has been arranged, so some good bouts are assured. The last tournament which was staged a month or so ago was an unqualified success, and the Boxing and Wrestling Associations, under whose auspices tho tournament is being run, have every reason to feel that this ono will bo even better. The gymnasium in which the bouts are to be held was completely refitted at the beginning of the season and to assist with the upkeep of the equipment tho total takings on Thursday night are to bo devoted to this cause, and it is hoped that the sport-loving public of this centre will take this opportunity’ of showing their appreciation of the work that is being put into keeping these sports alive in the city.
