The anti-cyclone recently over the Dominion is now centred to the northeast, while a complex depression covers most of the Tasman Sea. Winds: North-easterlies predominating mainly light to moderate, but strong in the far north and at some exposed positions elsewhere. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rough north of East Cape and on the west coast of the South Island; elsewhere slight to moderate, but later rising in Cook Strait. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong northeast to northerly winds and rough seas. Weather: Cloudy to overcast and in places misty or foggy with fairly general rain; some heavy falls in the North Island and on the west coast of the South. Temperatures mild.
