Manawatu Croquet Association

ANNUAL REPORT The nineteenth annual report of the Manawatu Croquet Association states: ‘ ‘ The committee is pleased to congratulate the association on another successful year ending April, 1939. There has been an increase of 16 in membership. We regret that the Ashhurst Club has disbanded owing to reduced membership. We are very pleased to welcome to our association two new clubs, Otaki and Paraparaumu, and the council kindly donated the association another County Club Cup, with the result that Manakau, Otaki and Otaki Central competed. The weather has not been in our favour for croquet, but that has not deterred the keen enthusiasts of the game. The Dominion tournament, staged here in January, was a very big event, and very fine exhibitions of the games were keenly watched. Wo compliment our Manawatu players coming out in events as follow: Level singles, Mrs. Hill, Oroua; runners-up for championship doubles, Mesdames. Simpson and Wood; runnersup in handicap doubles, Mesdames Simpson and Pcrmain. The annual tournament was held in December and entries were in advance of the past season.
