Arabs’ Scheme for The Palestine Problem
SELF-GOVERNMENT PLANNED LONDON, April 30. The Cairo correspondent of the Daily Telegraph says that the Prime Minister, Mohammed Mahmud Pasha, and the head of the Royal Cabinet, Ali Maher Pasha, presided over a conference of Palestinian Arabs, representatives of Arab States, and Indian Moslems, which adopted, for forwarding to the British Government, proposals for a Palestine settlement. These embody the creation of a Government of Palestinian Arabs and Britisll advisers when peace is restored, general control of land sales, acceptance of 75,000 immigrants iu the next live years, and a Jewish element not exceeding one-third of the total. At the end of the period there should be a constituent Assembly, to meet in 1942 in order to draft a Constitution. The Jewish Agency has appealed to the Hague Court against the British Government’s policy restricting the entry of Jews into Palestine. It questions the validity of the recent ordinance giving tho High Commissioner discretion to control immigration.
