British Battleships for Pacific ?
ADMIRALTY SILENT LONDON, May 11. Reports circulating in London that a conference of all British naval forces in the Far East would shortly bo held at Singapore aro scouted at the AdmiraJtv, where it is pointed out that the com-manders-in-chief of the East indies Squadrons conferred in March, while the Pacific Defence Conference has only just been held in New Zealand. The Admiralty refuses to comment on the report that, as a result of the New Zealand conference, certain British battleships are earmarked for the Pacific in event of an emergency. The Daily Telegraph, according to an earlier cable, understood that flag officers of British naval squadrons cast of Suez would be meeting in Siugupore shortly to modernise the co-ordination of defences.
